Owners Michael and Catherine began by selling bags of coffee from a single shelf at a local crafters’ market. From there, the business grew into a full cafe with its own personality Dark and Deadly has built an exceptionally loyal following in Carleton Place, but its reputation reaches well beyond town. Visitors make the trip from Ottawa, Kingston, Toronto and elsewhere to see the cafe’s unforgettable interior and try its custom coffee beans only found at the unique cafe.The team, known as the “BOOristas” keeps the cafe welcoming rather than intimidating. Dark and Deadly also hosts trivia nights and community gatherings, giving customers more reasons to return after discovering the coffee.
